Bandipora: Forest officials on Friday seized 2 quintals of banned medicinal plants in Bandipora.
The banned plants were being brought from Gurez in 8 vehicles.
A forest official said that they had some information about banned herbs being transported from Gurez, so to nab the smugglers they put a Nakka with the help of police and forest range officer near Pethkot during wee hours.
The official said that the herb, Fritillaria locally know as โ€˜Sheet Khaarโ€™ which is banned in the market was recovered from eight vehicles coming from Gurez and were entering Bandipora.
Divisional forest officer Hamid Malla told Kashmir Reader that total 2 quintals of Fritillaria herb were recovered from eight vehicles as each vehicle almost dumped 25 kilos and were transporting them outside. (Agencies)
