Bengaluru, June 15 : Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday indicated that the waiver of farm loans is likely to be announced during the budget session of the State Legiislature to be held from the first week of July.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Kumaraswamy said there would be only one power centre in the State and he would take a decision on the loan waiver issue.
‘Congress feels financial condition is not good. But I will take care. I have to take a decision without any scope for misunderstanding. Budget Session will be in July first week and I will solve everything there’, Mr Kumaraswaamy, who is also holding Finance Portfolio added.
Mr Kumaraswamy earlier in the day in a tweeter message to farmers said that there need not be any confusion on the loan waiver issue. He wanted to tackle the issue on a scientific basis and ensure the benefit reaches maximum number of farmers. Soon after assuming power he had indicated that if the JD(S) had secured a clear mandate to govern the state from the people, he would have announced the waiver. But he was now caught in coalition compulsions and he had to decide after taking into confidence Congress, the coalition partner. Besides he also said that he had sought to hold dialogue with bankers and other officials on the waiver issue, which according to an indication would cost the exchequer around Rs.53,000 crores.
