Srinagar, June 25, : Indian Defense Minister Monday visited Kashmir Valley to review security sitation.

    The Defense Minister Nirmala Sitaraman was accompanied by Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat who were received by Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Northern Army Commander and Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander.

    The Defense Minister was briefed about the security and administrative arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra on ground. She was subsequently given an update by the Chinar Corps Commander in Badami Bagh Cantonment on the latest security scenario on the Kashmir Valley including details of Counter Infiltration and Counter Militant Operations undertaken in the recent past.

    Nirmala Sitaraman as per an army statement appreciated the effectiveness of the intelligence and operational grids and commended the commanders and troops for the excellent operational successes, which has contributed significantly towards improving the security environment in Kashmir Valley.

     Later in the evening, she also interacted with Governor Vohra at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar and discussed the overall security situation in the Valley.
