Srinagar, Jul 06 : Director General of Police, Dr. S.P Vaid has granted scholarship of Rs. 3.8 lac in favour of 60 wards of police martyrs and deceased personnel. The scholarships have been granted out of Central Welfare fund and Central Police Education Fund for the academic year 2017-2018.
Rupees 2.46 lac have been sanctioned in favour of 32 wards of police martyrs, who laid their lives in different militancy related incidents in the state. These wards include 23 students of primary and higher secondary level, 6 of under graduation classes and 3 students of post graduation/ professional courses.
Besides, scholarship of rupees 1.34 lac has been sanctioned in favour of 28 wards of police personnel, who died while in service due to accidental or natural deaths. These wards include 26 students studying up to higher secondary level and one each in graduation / post graduation class. (KNS)
