Police detain Shia mourners in Kashmir capital

Srinagar 19 Sep : Police on Wednesday detained around a dozen mourners who tried to take out the traditional 8th Muharram procession from this capital city.

Dozens of Shia mourners assembled near the fire service department Batamaloo here and tried to march towards Shaheed Gunj, witnesses told  Media as Shaheed Gunj, the place from where  8th Muharram procession used to start before culminating at Dalgate.

However, before the mourners could reach there, police swung into action and detained around a dozen mourners before bundling them in their vehicles and whisking them away.
