Kulgam: Government forces on Saturday night launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Qaimoh area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Reports said that the CASO was launched late evening today in Gratbal village of Qaimoh.

They said that the forces installed lights in the area where searches are being conducted.

An official said that the searches were started after “specific” inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

“Lights have been installed to ensure that the militants hiding in the area don’t escape,”* he said.

So far, no contact was established with the militants, he said.

Over a dozen persons were injured after clashes broke out in Khudwani Ghat area of the district where forces had launched a CASO after inputs about the presence of militants.

However, the operation was called off in the evening. (KNT)
