Srinagar, Dec 18 :ย A Kashmiri Islamic scholar died in a road accident at Deoband area of Saharanpur in Utter Pradesh on Tuesday late afternoon.

A resident of Ladoora, Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the deceased Mohammad Rafeeq Mir (30) son of Shabir Ahmed Mir was pursuing ‘Mufti Course’ at Darul Uloom Deoband seminary.

The accident took place at Jamia Tidyaย area of Thrihra, Qasba Deoband when a tractor trolley hit Rafeeq while he was on his way to meet his friend in the area, Station House Officer (SHO) of the concerned police station in UP Sajad Ali told GNS over the phone.

“We have handed over the body to his cousin brother, who is also studying in the same Darul Uloom, and administrators of the seminary. The body would be flown to Srinagar tomorrow for performing last rites,” the SHO said. (GNS)
