A protest was held against alleged shortage of doctors at a hospital in Sopore town of north Kashmirโ€™s Baramulla district on Monday.

Dozens of people, including those accompanying the patients, staged the protest against alleged shortage of doctors at Mother and Child Care Hospital in Sopore

The protestors raised slogans against the hospital authorities and blocked Sopore-Baramulla road as a mark of protest.

“There are only two lady doctors in the hospital and they donโ€™t bother to come to the hospital. The doctors prefer to see patients at their private clinics. They even forces us to visit them at their clinics,โ€ alleged a protester.

When contacted, Block Medical Officer Sopore Dr Sami said these were โ€œmere allegationsโ€ as they have sufficient doctors at the hospital.

“The patients are asking for a particular doctor at the hospital but she cannot remain available all the time as she has to attend operation theatre also,โ€ he said.
