New Delhi, Jan 9: External Affairs Minister and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday hailed the passing of two ‘krantikari (revolutionary)’ bills in Lok Sabha – The Citizenship Bill and Constitutional Amendment Bill on upper castes Quota – and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the same.
“I congratulate Prime Minister and express gratefulness for the passing of two revolutionary Bills in Lok Sabha,” Ms Swaraj tweeted in Hindi.
“January 8 will be historic for India. We passed a Bill that will help get citizenship to minorities such as Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians coming to India from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan,” she wrote.
In another tweet, she mentioned about the passage of the 124th Constitutional Amendment Bill that will grant 10 per cent reservation to general category people.
Lok Sabha – on its last working day of the winter session – on Tuesday passed the two Bills.
