TRAL : A complete shutdown is being observed in Tral sub district of South Kashmir Sunday to mark the fourth death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Abid Khan and his associate.

Eyewitnesses said that all the shops and other business establishments are closed in the sub division while public transport is off the roads.

However, clashes erupted in Tral after youth pelted stones on forces, who retaliated with teargas shelling to disperse protesting youth.

On January 27, 2015, Abid Khan alias Hamza of Hundoora village of Tral was killed along with his associate, Sheeraz Ahmed Dar, resident of Ourigund Tral, in a gunfight with government forces at Hundoora village.

Pertinently, Commanding officer (CO) of Armyโ€™s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Col Munindra Nath Rai, and head constable Sanjeev Singh of Jammu and Kashmir Policeโ€™s SOG wing were also killed during the said encounter. (Agencies)
