Srinagar: Modi says the use of anti-satellite weapon does not violate any international law or deal. He says a “strong India” is needed for the peace and security of this region.

“Mission Shakti is an important step towards securing India’s safety, economic growth and technological advancement,” he says.

Modi’s announcement is being seen as an anti-climax as many were expecting it to be an election announcement. His address comes just two weeks before the first phase of polls set to begin on April 11.

The prime minister says India now has enough satellites contributing to agriculture, disaster management, communication, weather and navigation, reports
