Anantnag, Feb 29, KNT: A local court in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district awarded life imprisonment to a murder accused.

In August 2014, Police had charged a youth for the murder of a teen-age girl, hailing from Krendgam village of Anantnag district. Police in its charge-sheet had claimed that accused Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Krendgam was stalking a teen-age girl of his village and when the girl didn’t show interest in him, he stabbed her to death. A murder case had been registered against him at police station Anantnag.

On Saturday, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Khalil Chowdary awarded life imprisonment to the accused. The court also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh. The victims family was represented by Advocate Suhail Ahmed.

Shortly after the conviction order, police shifted the convict to Sub-Jail Mattan.

“This judgment is a breather to the victim’s family. Justice was finally done and the accused was punished,” Advocate Suhail told KNT.
