Srinagar, Mar 30 : National Conference (NC) on Sunday expressed profound grief over the demise of renowned doctor and brother-in-law of party President Dr Farooq Abdullah, Dr Muhammad Ali Mattoo, who passed away here after a prolonged illness.
According to statement issued to KPS, NC while paying tribute to deceased said, โ€œLate Dr Muhammad Ali Matoo was the son of renowned businessman of his times, and a close associate of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, Kwaja Muhammad Abdullah Mattoo of Zainakadal, Srinagar. He was a renowned Doctor and served as Superintendent of SMHS and SKIMS hospitalsโ€.

It said, โ€œThe deceased was a man of knowledge and known for his humble disposition and cheerful nature. A dignified and upright person Matoo embodied nobility, dignity and graceโ€.
โ€œThe party rank and file is in unison with the grief stricken family in particular with the wife of deceased Prof. Suraya Mattoo Abdullah, and his daughter Dr. Nyla Ali Khanโ€, statement said.
The party also expressed heartfelt condolences to the party President and MP Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice-President Omar Abdullah in this hour of grief.
