New Delhi, Apr 14: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday greeted the people of Assam and Tamil Nadu on the occasion on Bohag Bihu and Puthandu respectively.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Shah said, โ€œWishing my sisters and brothers on the auspicious occasion of BohagBihu. May the coming year bring good health and property in everyoneโ€™s livesโ€.

While greeting the people of Tamil Nadu on the occasion of beginning of Tamil new year Puthandu, the Union Home Minister said, โ€œExtend my warm greetings to all Tamil friends on the occasion of Puthandu. May this festive season further the spirit of harmony and happinessโ€.
Bohag Bihu or Rongali Bihu is a festival celebrated in the Indian state of Assam and other parts of northeastern India, and marks the beginning of the Assamese New Year while the Puthandu, also known as Puthuvarusham or Tamil New Year, is the first day of year on the Tamil calendar and traditionally celebrated as a festival.
