Poonch, May 26 : At least half a dozen animals were killed, many houses damaged as Indo Pak armies exchanged heavy gunfire along line of control (LOC) in Poonch district on early Tuesday.

Official sources told GNS , many residential houses damaged and a dozen animals were killed after Pakistan army heavy shelled forward posts and civilian areas along line of control (LOC) in Balakote sector on early Tuesday.

An army official confirmed to GNS said Pakistan initiated the unprovoked ceasefire violation by targeting Balakote area in Mendhar sector in Poonch district, drawing befitting response from the Indian army.

A dozen domestic animals in forward Sohala village were killed in the Balakot sector. A team, including officials from the revenue, veterinary, health departments headed by the tehsildar, was rushed to the forward areas to assess the losses,” said Sahil Jandyal, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to GNS. He said in the shelling many residential house were also damaged.(GNS)
