Srinagar: Keeping up the age old tradition, getting in line with universal brotherhood reaffirming the faith in unity in diversity, Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Forum President Mr Muhammad Akbar Khan seconded by his Provincial President Kashmir Mr Muhammad Afzal Bhat, have extended warm felicitations to Hindu brethren on the auspicious eve of Raksha Bandhan. A unique festival celebrated to revitalise the pledge of a brother to safeguard his sister in all the circumstances, thus rejuvenating the sibling ties.
The traditional festival of Raksha Bandhan more commonly known as Rakhi, dates back its origin about 6000 years ago during Aryans established first civilization.
The story of Alexander the Great and King Puru,
One of the oldest references to the History of Rakhi festival goes back to 300 B.C.
Again the story of Lord Krishna and Draupadi is also very well known and much referred to.
In the epic of Ramayana we have another version that of the King Bali and Goddess Lakshmi.
In yet another and a latest version of the festival we have the story of Rani Karnawati and Emperor Humayun. Come what may the festival is one of the most popular events in Hinduism and has a special place in their faith.
It is wished that may this combination of Eid-ul-Azha and Raksha Bandhan be a new beginning of peace and happiness besides safety of precious human lives across the globe. Mr Khan has said that his special greeting goes to his Worthy Chairman JKTF and senior colleague, Mr Ganesh Khajuria and his whole team, who are firm believers in the Secular system.
