Pahalgam, July 18: A tourist family from Allahabad Uttar Pradesh declined the request of police to go for a postmortem after an 11 months old baby died in Pahalgam Hotel they were staying in.

Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a 15-member family from Allahabad had arrived in Pahalgam hill station of South Kashmir where 11 months old baby fell ill. She was taken to Primary Health Centre Pahalgam where doctors declared her brought dead.

The deceased baby was identified as Cherry Sonkar daughter of Gansham Sonkar, a resident of Allahabad UP.

Police sources said that police was keen to go for medico-legal formalities as the mother of the baby had also died couple of months ago.

Sources said that family termed the death of baby as natural and refused to conduct postmortem on baby. (KNT)
