Srinagar, Oct 19 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to take over the case of October 5 civilian killings in the Kashmir valley.

Makhan Lal Bindroo, a Kashmiri Pandit and Virendra Paswan, a non-Kashmiri street vendor, killed on October 5 in Srinagar.

Makhan Lal Bindroo was the owner of Srinagar’s most famous pharmacy, and was shot dead by suspected militants at his shop. While Virender, who used to sell bhelpuri, was also shot at point blank and died on the spot

Within minutes of the second killing, militants shot dead Mohammad Shafi Lone at Naidkhai in Bandipora district. Lone was president of the local taxi stand.

As per the national tv channel ,the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Director General of NIA have discussed the case in Srinagar.

The news channel reported that DG J&K Police will write to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and has confirmed the decision to hand over the case to the NIA after MHA’s nod.(KINS)
