Srinagar, Jan 12 : Notwithstanding tall claims of augmenting Valleyโ€™s healthcare sector, Trauma hospital in Pattan area of Baramulla district is facing acute shortage of Sonologist, thereby making patients suffer immensely.

Local residents told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the hospital is facing shortage of a sonologist due to which patients are suffering badly.

They said that patients have no choice but to visit private healthcare centers, which charge hefty amounts.

The residents said that they have raised the issue before the concerned authorities several times, but to no avail.

โ€œThere is no sonologist posted in the hospital though administration has installed high-end USG machine, however, patients are continuously suffering due to non-availability of sonologist,โ€ they said

Meanwhile, sources said that around three months ago a radiologist from Trauma hospital was deputed back to Sopore and till date no one has been posted here.

โ€œThe hospital is catering to huge rush of pregnant ladies on a routine basis so it was responsibility of the administration to arrange a reputed radiologist or sonologist on priority basis as non-availability of this key position can prove disastrous,โ€ locals said.

They appealed to LG Manoj Sinha and additional chief secretary Health Vivek Bharadwaj to look into the matter and help resolve the genuine grievance. (Agencies)
