DNS unavailable at PHC in Kulgam village, patients suffer

Kulgam, Jul 21 (KNO): In a shocking development, Dextrose Normal Saline (DNS) was not available in a primary health center (PHC) at Nehama area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, thereby making patients suffer.

A local told the news agencyโ€”Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that DNS was not available at the government hospital, forcing him to buy it from a medical shop.

“My sister was not feeling well and I went to PHC Nehama, while doctors asked for DNS, But to utter surprise the same was not available in the hospital,โ€ he alleged.

He said due to non-availability of DNS at the health facility, he the bought it from a nearby medical shop.

“The village is well known as it lies on the boundry of Shopian- Kulgam and people from many areas visit this health facility, so thisPHC is having the load of sub district hospital,โ€ locals said.

Meanwhile, locals appealed to the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and DC Kulgam to personally look into the matter so that people heave a sign of relief.

Despite repeated attempts neither Chief Medical Officer nor Block Medical Officer Kulgam respond to calls from this reporterโ€”(KNO)
