Reaching out to the poor and needy, IAS officers’ Wives Association (IASOWA, J&K) today distributed free blankets among the patients at District Hospital Budgam. The ‘donation drive’ was conducted under the able guidance of President IASOWA J&K, Dr. Amita Mehta, wife of Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta.
Dr. Amita Mehta is deeply involved in social services and always motivates other IASOWA members to follow the same. Recently IASOWA J&K, conducted successful donation drives in Jammu and Delhi under her guidance.
The team of five IASOWA members comprising Mrs. Rashmi Singh, IAS, Mrs Ruchi Gupta, Dr. Mehak Khateeb, Dr. Irtiza Jeelani and Dr. Afreen took part in the donation.
District Social Welfare Officer, Budgam Dr Farhana and Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Budgam, Dr Mohammad Ayoub Fateh, also accompanied the IASOWA team.
During the drive, the members visited various wards and interacted with patients and attendants to enquire about the health care facilities.
On the occasion, Medical Superintendent, apprised the members about overall functioning of the health institution, treatment and facilities being provided to the patients.
Speaking about the initiative taken by the IASOWA J&K, Mrs. Rashmi Singh said that our aim is to reach out to the underprivileged and weaker sections of the society. She also added the similar activities and donation drives are being held in other districts of the UT.
Other team members informed that IASOWA J&K is going to conduct a donation drive in its adopted learning Centre at Jammu on 26th Sept. to help underprivileged children to assist in their holistic development.
The team members said that their motive is to sustain and carry forward these charity activities and involve more and more members towards the social cause.
