Kashmir University (KU) is yet to get a new registrar even after the holding of interviews of candidates for the vacant post in November 2023.

After dragging feet for nearly two years to fill up the vacant post of Registrar despite massive resentment, the KU authorities finally decided to interview to appoint the new Registrar in November 2023.

The interview of candidates was held in November 2023 and the recommendations were sent to the government.

โ€œThe recommendations have been sent to Raj Bhavan in a sealed cover,โ€ said an official privy to the development.

The post of Registrar, after much delay, was formally advertised in January 2023 and an interview for shortlisted candidates was held in November 2023.

Already, the Islamic University of Science and Technology has expedited the process to fill up the post of Registrar, even though KU has dragged its feet on the issue for nearly two years, leading to allegations of favoritism and political pressure to continue with the In-Charge arrangement. [KNT]
