Angry over an eight-day-long water outage, residents of Beerwah town in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district staged a protest on Tuesday, blocking the Magam Road near the State Bank.

The demonstrators expressed outrage at the Jal Shakti Department, accusing it of failing to provide basic amenities like clean drinking water. Protesters said daily life has been thrown into chaos, with no response from the authorities despite repeated complaints.

The protest led to a major traffic disruption in the area before local officials, including SHO Beerwah and other administrative officers, intervened and assured immediate redressal of the issue. [KNT]
