Karwan-e-Islami International chief Allama Sheikh Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami on Friday announced the formation of a construction and legal committee for the proposed Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) Research University, aimed at completing formalities and moving the project toward execution.

Addressing a congregation at Hanfia Markazi Jamia Masjid in Sangrama, Sopore, Hami said the university is needed to position Jammu & Kashmir as a hub for quality education and reduce student migration outside the region. He expressed confidence that the long-pending project would soon take shape.

He also reiterated the organisation’s commitment to combating drug abuse, stating it would continue anti-drug efforts until complete eradication. Hami welcomed the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” and the administration’s measures against drug use, calling them necessary to steer youth toward constructive paths.

Emphasising spiritual values, he said societal reform depends on moral integrity and the teachings of saints and elders.
