The Economic Offences Wing Kashmir conducted house searches at Semsaan, Budgam on Tuesday in connection with a ₹93 lakh land fraud in which a complainant was allegedly duped into purchasing five kanals of migrant land at Drusu, Pulwama and 300 standing trees at Bijbehara through fake agreements.

The accused, Soom Nath Koul of Bangalore/Jammu, allegedly posed as attorney holder of the original landowners, while Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Dar of Jawalpora Budgam acted as witness. Investigation revealed neither the land nor the trees belonged to the accused. Searches were carried out in the presence of Executive Magistrates to collect incriminating evidence.
