Hundreds of Muslims and Sikhs on Wednesday participated in the last rites of an elderly Kashmiri Pandit woman in Midora village of Tral, Pulwama, in a touching display of inter-community solidarity that drew widespread attention.

The woman's family had chosen to remain in their ancestral village through the years of militancy, unlike many Pandit families who migrated from the Valley. Her passing drew grief across communities, with neighbours arranging wood for the last rites and remaining present with the family throughout the funeral rituals.

Locals said the turnout reflected long-standing social bonds and mutual respect that have endured through difficult decades in Kashmir.
