Uri, May 19: Attendants in care of Covid-infected patients at designated hospital in Mohura in border town Uri have complained of non-availability of food at the health care facility.
An attendant on condition of anonymity told GNS that they have been arranging the food and other essential stuff on their own on a daily basis now, with the authorities, according to him, being too casual in their approach despite asked about it on several occasions.
โEach day the attendants have to move to and fro at morning and evening hours to get the food from their respective homesโ, he said adding that โSome of those admitted live at far-off places and it gets altogether difficult for them to manage the things.โ
Another person seconding the claims of fellow attendant said that he has been at the health care facility for last five days now, however things are playing out differently as one had anticipated at the time of admission of his patient. โThere are a total of seven Covid patients with one attendant eachโ, he said adding that โIt gets difficult for us to the arrange things for the fact that we are supposed to maintain utmost caution while attending the infected patients amid frequent visits to our respective homes.โ
โWith the things only going from bad to worse, a local NGO somehow reached out to provide us lunch and dinner yesterdayโ, another aggrieved attendant said adding that rest of the things are going as it used to be as the hospital authorities are โtoo discourteousโ to our sufferings.
When contacted over the issue, Nodal Officer Covid-19 Baramulla Naveed Altaf told GNS that the matter will be looked into and accordingly taken up with the higher authorities.
Pertinent to mention here that Uri administration has established two Covid-care facilities โ one each at Mohura Uri and Warikha Boniyar. With seven Covid infected patients admitted at Mohura, there is none currently admitted at Warikha Boniyar. (GNS)
