A shopping complex, falling within the premises of an army camp in Zangli area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, was damaged in a fire mishap last night.

An official told GNS that a fire broke out in the shopping complex inside the 28 Infantry Division in Zangli garrison at around 10 PM yesterday.

“As the flames raged, the Fire & Emergency Services Department alongside Police and stationed army personnel swung into action to contain the flames”, the official said.

The raging flames however spread quickly to other shops in the complex making the operation difficult.

“After several hours of relentless efforts, the fire was controlled not before it dealt damage to at least six shops”, the official said.

“There was no injury to anyone in the incident”, the official said adding the cause of fire is being ascertained. (GNS)
