Srinagar: Awantipora police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested 5 youth in Kupwara who were planning to cross LOC to join militant ranks there.
“With the help of Kupwara police, we have arrested 5 youth including a student and foiled their attempts to join militantcy, thereby saving 5 families getting adversely affected,” said SP Awantipora Mohammad Zahid.
He said that after proper counselling, police released one youth after found him a student, identified as Muntazir Hamid S/O Ab Hamid , resident of Bra-Bandina Awantipora , a 12th class student at Bijbehara.
“Out of these, one youth has been released, who is actually a student and has been given a chance to make his carrier back ,” said Zahid.
According to the police, other four persons are being questioned in different police stations.
Giving the full details , police said that, after receiving information that 5 boys of Awantipora had gone missing. Awantipora police with the help of Kupwara police launched a haunt and have nabbed all of them in Kupwara, after they were planning to cross LOC to join Al-Badr militant outfit there.
Meanwhile, the family of released student, thanked Awantipora police for bringing their son back and assured them that family too will counsel him personally.
