Srinagar: A day after Jammu Kashmir Government refused to pay compensation to Budgam man used human shield by Army, the victim who appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar on Monday expressed surprise over the attitude of the government.

He said Jammu Kashmir Government has take this decision to appease those panelists, political fanatics and media warlords who presented him as a stone-pelter and hailed the cowardice of army Major Gogoi.

โ€œI was not compensated because government doesnโ€™t want to prove those wrong who labeled me as stone-pelter on Indian media channels,โ€ Farooq Ahmed told news agency CNS.

โ€œI am psychologically disturbed and unable to say anything,โ€ he said.

Dar said he has been facing โ€œsocial stigmaโ€ after the incident and โ€œmaking ends meet is a challenge for me.โ€

He was accompanied by Human Rights activist Muhammad Ahsan Untoo. โ€œDar was carrying a voter list vide number 612 and still he was beaten by army and made human shield. If government canโ€™t protect a voter, how can it protect a common citizen,โ€ Untoo said.

Pertinently, government while refusing to entertain the recommendations of State Human Rights Commission has already stated that it will not compensate Dar.
