Srinagar, January 19:ย Jammu and Kashmir Police continues its drive against the use of polythene which is being held in every district of the valley.During this drive at Srinagar, Anantnag and Handwara, polythene bags were seized and were destroyed.

In Srinagar, the drive was carried out by Police teams of police post Bemina and Chanapora in their jurisdictions. In Anantnag, the drive was carried out at Sangam Market, Marhama and Kulgam while in Handwara, Police party of Police Station Vilgam along with Tehsildar Taratpora carried out the drive at Taratpora Viligam market.

ย Moreover, during the market checking at these places, it was found that most of traders have shifted to use of non-polythene bags.

Jammu and Kashmir Police has appealed the traders and consumers to avoid the use of polythene which is degrading our fragile environment & instead should shift to the use of eco-friendly carrying bags, so as to save the fragile ecosystemย  including precious water bodies of the valley.
