Srinagar: Hundreds of people raising slogans against Israel and the US Friday marched on the main road in Magam town of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district to protest against Israel. The march is part of “Al-Qudus Day” being observed in the Muslim world today.

Resistance leaders in Kashmir have announced to observe the last Friday of Ramzan as “Al-Qudus and Kashmir Day”.

Under the banner of Maiwen Committee Tanzeemul Makatib Magam, people of the area gathered at Magam town and protested against the brutal Israeli occupation of Palestine and recent carnage in Gaza.

Holding banners and placards reading “down with America”, “down with Israel” and “Al-Qudus day is a universal day to support the oppressed against the oppressor”, they raised slogans against Israel and highlighted the sufferings of the Palestinians.

The day was initiated by late Muslim leader, Ayatullah Khumani of Iran, in 1979, which is now observed every year in the Muslim world on the last Friday of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. (Agencies)
