SRINAGAR :  The tour for the 22 farmers of Marwar Valley, which was were flagged off on 22 May, returned after learning modern farming practices in the field of agriculture from Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar University at Palampur (Himanchal), was flagged in with an impressive ceremony at Army Garrison Naugam.

At the Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar University, Palampur the farmers got an opportunity to interact with Vice chancellor , Senior Scientists and various heads of the department. The farmers were introduced to latest farming techniques, equipment, organic farming, dairy farms and veterinary department. Most of these farmers had never ventured out of homes. The tour was a unique initiative of the Dagger Division where in the focus was on creating awareness & capacity building of the farmers. Moreover, it will boost the confidence of farmers to contribute towards the development of farming and agriculture in the Valley. The tour will act as a foundation for these farmers to expand upon their knowledge and farming techniques besides providing a glimpse of culture of other places in the Valley. In addition, the farmer visited various places of tourist interest like Shoba Singh Art Gallery, Tashi Jong Buddhist Monastery, Neugal Park
