Bandipora: Agitated over frequent power cuts , residents of Nussu today staged protest against the Power Development Department (PDD).
Amid anti-PDD slogans, protesters sat on Dharna and blocked the Srinagar-Bandipora road at Nusoo. They alleged thatthe carrier and electric poles have been damaged some days ago and since then it has not been repaired by the PDD.
Locals added they approached the concerned authorities of PDD several times but in vain.
They said PDD forced them to come on roads in holy month as despite assurances and promises, they failed to restore electricity. People alleged that due to non-availability of power supply in holy month, they are suffering especially the students who are preparing for exams.
On Police assurance that there concern will be communicated to higher ups, people later called off their protest.
