SRINAGAR:  As many as 81 erring shopkeepers were fined Rs 36,850 for violating Essential Commodities Act (ECA), 1995 in this summer capital, officials said here today.
They said a squad, headed by the Assistant Director, enforcement, conducted market checking from June 3 to June 12, 2017 of various areas of Srinagar city, including Mehjoor Nagar, Chanapora, Lal Nagar, Baghi Mehtab, Gojwara, Nowshera, Buchwara, Batmaloo, Maharaja Bazaar, Wazir Bagh, Raj Bagh, Bemina, and other adjacent areas.
During the market checking, as many as 305 business establishments were inspected and a penal sum of Rs 36850 was realised from 81 erring shopkeepers for violation of ECA. (UNI)
