Srinagar, Jan 9 : Hundreds of activists on Wednesday held a protest demonstration in the summer capital, Srinagar, as part of two-day nationwide strike called by Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), against alleged repressive policies for workers adopted by the government.

Despite chilly weather conditions, hundreds of CITU activists from across Kashmir assembled at Pratap Park in Srinagar.

A CITU spokesperson said the trade union activists from Anganwadi workers/helpers Union, ASHA workers Union, Non-Gazzetted Electric Employees Union, Kashmir Construction Workers Union, Horticulture Employees Union, Mid-Day Meal Workers Union, Handicrafts Workers Union, Centaur Hotel Workers Union, Northern Zone Insurance Employees Association with banners and CITU flags in their hands raised slogans like โ€˜Inqilab Zindabadโ€™, โ€˜workers unity zindabadโ€™, โ€˜down with anti-worker policies of Modi-Govtโ€™ and โ€˜we want justiceโ€™ marched through Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital.
