Ganderbal: ย Gujjar Bakerwal community on Sunday took to the streets in Manigam area of central Kashmirs Ganderbal district and protested against the health department following the recent incident occurred outside Lal ded Hospital in which Gujjar Lady delivered outside hospital.
They accused the doctors and hospital authorities of negligence, which had allegedly led to the death of a baby and allegedly misbehaving with poor Gujjar family, this incident happens while a woman of a very remote snowbound area developed labour pain on Thursday night. However, in the absence of road connectivity due to the accumulation of snow, the relatives of the woman brought her to a hospital at Kalaroos after covering five km on foot. The doctors later referred her to District hospital, Kupwara where she was provided with an ambulance and rushed to Lal Ded hospital because of some complications.
The relatives of the woman, including husband, alleged that at Lal Ded hospital, the only maternity hospital and tertiary facility in the Valley, an Ultrasound was conducted and they were directed to go back to their village at 2000 hrs. After we left the hospital, the lady developed severe pain again and delivered a baby girl on the road. The new-born died immediately,” the family member said.
The protesters, raising slogans against the hospital administration and the government, blocked the main road at Manigam Ganderbal, They hold playing cards in their hands with (Justice for Suraiya and Cancel MBBS Degree of Doctor) , raising slogans against the heath department for showing utter prejudice against their community and subsequent harassment.
They appealed the health officials to look into the matter and are demanding to strict action against those health officials who were involved in this inhuman act. the road was cleared after the interferences of concern police.
Meanwhile, people on social media have strongly condemned the incident and demand immediate arrest and dismissal of doctors responsible for this negligence.
