Chennai, Feb 25 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confirm all the 6.028 applications recommended by the State Hajj Committee for undertaking Hajj pilgrimage this year based on the vacancies available in other States. In a Demi-official letter to Mr Modi, he urged him to instructย  the Minority Affairs Ministry to confirm all the applications.
He said the Tamil Nadu State Hajj Committee has received 6,028 applications for Hajj 2020, including seven infants,
against a quota of 3,736 allotted to the State by the Hajjย  Committee of India.
The remaining pilgrims were hopeful that all their Hajjย  applications will get confirmed for Hajj 2020. Mr palaniswami said a good number of vacancies areย  expected to be available since many States have not utilised their full quota due to many reasons, including cancellations.
‘I request you to instruct the Ministry of Minority Affairs to confirm all the 6,028 Hajj applications recommended
by the Tamil Nadu State Hajj Committee for Hajj 2020’, he added.
