Srinagar, Mar 31, KNT: ย Senior Superintendent of Police, Police Control Room, Kashmir have advised SSB personnel from 10th Battalion who were deployed for escort duties with SMC Mayor to go for isolation after the brother of Generator Operator of Mayor, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Junaid Azim Matoo was tested positive for Covid-19.

SSP, Police Control Room in a letter, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Trust reads that: “As conveyed by DSP Security Kashmir that the brother of Generator Operator of Mayor, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Junaid Azim Matoo has been tested positive for Covid-19 on 31 March. The security personnel of your unit were deployed for escort duties with the Mayor. There are chances of these security personnel have come into contact with generator operator or any other officials from security or other departments, who may be in contact with the said Generator Operator.”

The letter further reads that in view of these facts, the SSB personnel of 10th Battalion, who were deployed for escort duties from past 10 days with the Mayor may be kept in isolation, being probably suspects for Covid-19 as precautionary measures.

Efforts to contact SMC Mayor didn’t materialise.
