Srinagar ,28 April: Sadqat-ul- Fitr, also known as Zakat-ul-Fitr, amount has been fixed at Rs 55/ per person for the Year 2020 by Grand Mufti of J&K Mufti Nasir Ul Islam.

Mufti Nasir Ul Islam while Talking to Current News Service requested Muslims of Jammu &Kashmir to pay it as soon as possible, without waiting for Eid-ul-Fitr, as due to COVID-19 Lockdown & restrictions, large number of families are badly suffering.

Mufti Nasir-ul Islam said that Sadqa and Zakat is Wajib (mandatory) upon such a person who owns assets, which equal the value of the Nisab.

The owner of Nisab in the ruling as regards Sadaqat-al-Fitr is such a person who has 7 1/2 tola gold (93 grams 312 milligrams) or 52 1/2 tola silver (653 grams 184 milligrams), or any other form of asset .

โ€œEach person should give away in charity an amount equivalent to 1.760 kilograms of wheat,โ€ he added.

He said that given the financial problems, the poor class in due to the COVID-19 outbreak, people should not wait for ending days of Ramazan and should pay their Zakaat and Sadqat as soon as possible.

The amount of Sadqat-ul- Fitr is same for everyone, regardless of the amount he earns, he said.(Agencies)
