Srinagar, Oct 26: Jammu and Kashmir Casual, Daliy Wagers Forum on Monday began its two day pen down (Kaam Chod) strike to press their demands, which left the offices in the valley deserted.

Reports reaching to news agency KDC from various parts of the valley said that casual and daily wager employees of PHE department (now Jal Shakti Department), following the protest call given by the Forum did not attend their respective offices on Monday.

As a result of the strike, water supply in most areas of the valley got affected as employees stationed there left the offices deserted.

Meanwhile, Sajad Ahmad Parray President of the Forum told news agency KDC, โ€œUnfortunately government instead of addressing our issues has hired the local laboures for two days in some areas to continue the functioning of the departments.โ€

“We are being forced to take such extreme steps by the government and this to strike has been called to show the government that the casuals and daily wagers, who have been pushed to the wall since long, have been working with dedication and honesty and therefore deserve a fair deal,” he added.

He said if the department failed to address their demands, the strike call will be extended. (KDC)
