Srinagar: Thousands of people from different areas of Sopore reached Brath Kalan village to attend last rites of Hizb militant Nayeem Ahmad Najar who was killed in a gunfight with government forces on Monday.

Najar was killed along with Hizb divisional commander Pervaiz Ahmad Wani of Galoora Handwara in a brief gunfight with forces in Shankergund area of Sopore.

Reports said that thousands of people marched towards Brath Kalan amid pro-freedom sloganeering where they participated in the funeral prayers of Najar.

Women from Najarโ€™s family showered his body with candies while few militants offered a gun salute.
