Srinagar, Oct 7 : Normal life was today crippled due to a shutdown against alleged highhandedness of police in main Anantnag town in south Kashmir.
Meanwhile, traders held a sit-in protest at Lal Chowk in Anantnag, alleging that some policemen yesterday damaged their shops and thrashed them during an anti-braid chopping protest in the area.
Shouting โ€˜anti-forcesโ€™ slogans, the traders demanded immediate action against the accused policemen.
โ€œWe were not protesting, but the police still came and ransacked some of our shop and thrashed many shopkeepers yesterday in the town,โ€ a protesting trader said.
Shops and business establishments were closed since early this morning in main Anantnag town in support of the shutdown called by local tradersโ€™ body against yesterdayโ€™s incident.
