New Delhi, Oct 13 :  Keeping in view the threat perceptions deepened in particular by the recent standoff in Doklam and intrusion in Pangong Lake in Ladakh, the defence ministry has decided to give a major push to road constructions BY 2020 in the border area under Northern Command.

“It has been decided that there would be a concerted effort towards road construction activities in this sector. To that end four passes to Niti, Lipulekh, Thangla 1 and Tsangchokla have been decided to be connected by 2020 on priority,” Lt Gen Vijay Singh, Director General Staff Duties, Indian Army said while addressing the mediapersons on ongoing Army Commanders’ Conference here.
