New Delhi, Nov 3 : The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Centre to tell all the banks that messages sent to customers to link Aadhaar to accounts will indicate that they have time till December 31, 2017.

Similarly, for mobile service providers too, the Union of India will ensure that telecom service providers indicate in messages to customers that the last date to link their mobile phone numbers to Aadhar is February 06, 2018, the apex court said.

A division bench, headed by Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri and also comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan, gave the ruling while hearing a petition filed by one Mathew Stephen.

Stephen had filed a plea yesterday in the apex court challenging the linkage of Aadhaar with bank accounts.
