Srinagar, Nov 4 : Gurupurab, the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Singh, was on Saturday celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region despite chilly temperature.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, leaders of different political parties and Sikh organisation have greeted people on the occasion.

Braving chilly weather conditions, members of the Sikh community, including women and children, in colourful dresses are visiting Gurdwaras since Saturday morning.

The main function was held at Gurdwara Chatipadshahi on the foothill of Kohi-e-Maran, where the shrine of Mehboob-ul-Aalam and a Hindu temple are also located.

Despite chilly winds due to dry spell, large number of Sikhs, including women and children, from different parts of the city were visiting the Gurdwara.
