SRINAGAR, FEB 15 :ย The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar today granted a transit remand of two days to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for the five accused arrested over escape of Lashkar militant Naveed Jatt during SMHS raid.

A case, RC No 05/2018/NIA/DLI, has been registered against Shakeel Ahmed Bhat, Tika Khan, Syed Tajamul Islam, Md Shafi Wani and Jan Md Ganai – all residents of Pulwama.

The accused were arrested a day after LeT militant Naveed Jatt alias Abu Hanzalla brought to the hospital for medical check-up escaped during a militant raid on Feb 6.

โ€œThe five accused will be produced before the NIA Special Court at Jammuย tomorrowย for seeking police custody,โ€ said NIA IG Alok Mittal.

Two police personnel Head Constable Mushtaq Ahmed and Constable Babar Ahmed of Jammu and Kashmir Police were killed in the attack. (PTK)
