Jammu: Asserting that the Government of India must find a way forward in view of prevailing situation along the borders, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday asked both India and Pakistan that time has come to stop bloodshed.

“I feel that shelling is not one sided. If they (Pakistan) are shelling, we are responding through shelling. It is both ways,” Dr Abdullah here told reporters at the sidelines of a function.

“They shell one per cent and we shell 10 percent in retaliation as the Indian Army Chief has already said. Unless we will not find a way out other than this, the people on both the sides will suffer,” said the NC leader.

He said, “many of us will die. Many of our soldiers will also die and similar is the situation on the other side”.

The Government of India must find a way forward. What that way forward is upto the Prime Minister of India to decide. I won’t suggest anything to him and same I will ask to the Pakistani Prime Minister.”

“They need to understand that the time has come that bloodshed must stop and peace should be restored on the borders as well as in the state fears and the areas they are holding on,” he asserted.

“When the bomb comes, it does not know where to fall. These acts are done without knowing the targets and to frighten the people,” said Dr Abdullah.
