Srinagar: Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in Shopian town at three places on Saturday.
Protesters pelted rocks at forces near Jamia Masjid, Alyalpora and Kannipora areas of the town, witnesses said adding forces retaliated with tear smoke shells.
The town is observing shutdown on second consecutive day to mourn the killing of a local youth, Shakeeb Shabir.
Shakeeb Shabir, son of Shabir Ahmad Shah was killed when militants opened fire on the forces in Anantnag’s Laizbal area on Thursday. In the shootout, Shakeeb was hit by a bullet and lost his life.
