New Delhi, May 15: While Congress conceded defeat in the Karnataka Assembly elections, it, however, said that the blame of the loss could not be put on party president Rahul Gandhi.
‘Mr Rahul Gandhi cannot be blamed for the loss. His campaign was positive and dynamic. However, the caste chemistry softened his impact,’ senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily said while reacting to the counting trends which showed the BJP heading towards a victory.
Talking to a TV channel, AICC spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said the loss could be attributed to the anti incumbency factor rather than the Congress party’s campaign .
‘The BJP has gained as an anti-Incumbent force,’ Mr Singhvi said.
The trends of counting for the Karnataka Assembly elections showed the BJP leading in nearly 110
seats, while the Congress was ahead in 70 seats and the JD-S in 40.
